TCSers bid grand farewell to Anil Ron in Schenectady

( by Raghu. N)

TATA intimates in Schenectady bid an affectionate farewell to Anil Ron in the Jewish Community Auditorium on Saturday, October 20th 2001, organized along with the customary monthly get-together. Nagoor Padmaja and Shiv Kumar eloquently compered the Saturday’s evening meet during which Jawahar (Thangajawahar Kalidoss), Anil’s succeeding BRM for the prestigious GE-PS & GE-CRD accounts in Schenectady NY and Greenville SC regions, introduced his family to the members. Thanks to Basav and Srinath for fixing up the wonderful JCC auditorium located in the immediate neighborhood of Hillcrest Village Apartments. People convened in the hall from 6:45pm onwards to kickoff the function by 7pm.

After the inaugural prayer by Suchitra, Padmaja welcomed Jawahar on behalf of the TATA’ites and then invited the Birthday boys and girls and wedding anniversary couples of September and October to the stage for the cake cutting event. Basavaraj Benki, webmaster for TATA-SCH community web site (http://www.geocities.com/tatasch/), organized the ‘War of Balloons’ game for them which was won by Suchitra and Lakshmishree. Sound-Anand n party amused the crowd by mimes n dance show, followed by       solo songs session. It was time now for the fun filled Surprise Game organized by Ravi. He randomly read out the names, and corresponding actions from a set of slips, filled by their best friends at the time of entering the hall. Laughter and thunderous applause were all that greeted the nervous members attempting to perform the requested action.

Shivkumar, who consistently peppered some good Hindi Shaayiries during compering, invited the members to speak about Anil. Then Akhila-Anil Ron couple shared the experience during their stay of over 2 years in Schenectady and thanked the members for all the love and affection. They also wished the community folks best of luck in all their future endeavors. Later, the two BRMs Anil and Jawahar played the Irrelevant Conversation  contest, which was won by Jawahar.

Anil took the stage to distribute the prizes for the games and TATA-SCH tournament. Jawahar, Suchitra and Lakshmishree received their prizes for games. While Venkata Rami Reddy received the Best Volleyball Player award, the Thunder Blasters, Volleyball Tournament finalists, received the blue winter Jerkins and Super Six, the runners up, received the white winter T-shirts. The TATA-SCH community expressed its affection by presenting a Gift Check and token mementos to Anil, Akhila, Ankita and Akansh handed over by Jawahar.

Finally Padmaja and Shivkumar rendered the vote of thanks as the group dispersed for the grand and succulent organized-potluck-dinner, followed by the Group Photo session. Thanks to the disciplined members, who minutes later, cleaned the premises and disposed off the trash. Thanks to the JCC member of staff Richards for the help that he rendered during the party.

By 10pm, it was all over and silent except for the smiles of satisfaction, that danced on the faces of members heading home, speaking of yet another splendid evening that has just bygone.
