A Mission Minded Church

Psalm 107:2, "Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;"

Introduction:

A. The Whole Business of the Whole Church is to preach the Whole Gospel to the Whole World.

B. This task is the Responsibility of the Whole Church.

C. Witnessing to people about Christ is Missions.

If We Are A Mission Minded Church, We Must:

I. Have A Right Understanding of Our Commission.

A. Mark 16:15, "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

B. The Lord Jesus Christ is the one who Command Us to be Missionaries --- His Right --- He Redeemed Us.

Titus 2:13-14, "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."

C. The World is to be Our Field.

Acts 1:8, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

D. The Gospel of Christ is to be Our Message.

Romans 1:14-15, "I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. 15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

II. Have A Compassion For The Souls of Men.

A. Remember, God had compassion upon us.

Ezekiel 33:11, "Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?"

2 Peter 3:9, "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

B. Christ had compassion.

Matthew 9:35-38, "And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest."

C. Paul, one of the greatest missionaries, had great compassion.

Romans 10:1-3, "Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God."

Romans 9:1-3, "I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, 2 That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. 3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:"

D. To win souls, we must Love Souls.

Psalm 126:6, "He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him."

III. Have The Power of The Holy Spirit To Energize Us.

A. It is the Holy Spirit that will empower us in carrying on missions, or the wining of souls.

Luke 24:49, "And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high."

"Tarry Ye" --- Why?
Power Was Needed For The Task!

Acts 1:8, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

Acts 2:1-4, "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

B. Therefore, to be A Mission Minded Church --- we must be a Church Controlled By The Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 5:18, "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;"

Conclusion:

Before you can be Filled With The Spirit of God, you must Be Born of The Spirit.

John 3:3, "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
