"... the joy of the LORD is your strength." (Neh. 8:10) What Must We Do To Have Victory In The Midst of Adversity? (Part I) We Must Realize That according to [his] purpose." I Peter 2:9, "But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:" (( To be called of God has it's Disadvantages as well as it's Rewards. ))I. God's callings sometimes include Special Pressures upon this flesh. 4. Paul --- Acts 9:16, "... I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake." B. Outcast And Loneliness: 1. God forces us into a very Unique Relationship With Him by separating us unto Himself. 2. God's calling us sometimes places us in the position of being Different In Our Ways And Thoughts. 3. Others view us as Not Fitting Into Their Life Style. C. Loss And Death of Dreams And Plans. 1. Many things that we hold onto must be taken away so that we can get our Full Focus on God And His Purpose. 2. In order to accept God's plan for our life there must be a Yielding of Our Own Plans And Dreams. 3. God will many times revive them in a different form than before. II. Rewards of Being "Called" And "Chosen": II Corinthians 4:15-18, "For all things [are] for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward [man] is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding [and] eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen [are] temporal; but the things which are not seen [are] eternal." 1. All things are for your sakes --- (V. 15). 2. Abundant grace through thanksgiving --- (V. 15). 3. Brings glory to God --- (V. 15). 4. Renews our inward man, crucifies the flesh. --- (V. 16). 5. Luke 19:41-44, "And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things [which belong] unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation."
