What Does It Mean To You?

Romans 1:14-17, "I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. 15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith."

Introduction:

A. It Meant Something To Paul to be a Child of God and to be part of the Body of Christ.

B. He was Willing To Suffer Continually for the cause of Christ.

C. He had a Burning Desire to preach Christ to the lost.

D. The Apostles were Happy that they could Suffer Shame for the name of Jesus.

Acts 5:41, "And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name."

What Does It Mean To You:

I. That You Are A Child of God!

A. It means that you are Saved From Sin.

Psalm 40:1-2, "I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. 2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings."

B. It means that you are Saved From Hell.

Luke 16:22-23, "And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom."

C. It means that you have an Eternal Home.

John 14:1-3, "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

D. It means that you are Accepted of God through Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:21, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

E. It means that you should be Grateful In Your Heart.

2 Corinthians 9:15, "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift."

II. That You Are A Member of The Lord's Church.

A. It means that you are a part of the Body of Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:27, "Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular."

1. All members are to work together.

2. When one member fails it hurts the whole body.

B. It means that you are in a Position To Serve God Acceptably.

Matthew 5:15, "Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house."

Revelation 1:20, "The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches."

C. It means that you are in a Position To Receive Special Blessings.

Ephesians 3:21, "Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."

D. It means that you are to Assemble Yourselves Together.

Hebrews 10:25, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

III. That You Are Without Christ!

A. It means that you are Dead In Trespasses and In Sin.

Ephesians 2:1, "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;"

B. It means that you are Separated From God.

Ephesians 2:12, "That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:"

C. It means that you are Already Condemned.

John 3:18, "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

IV. That Jesus Died on Calvary!

A. It means that Jesus Was Crucified For You.

Matthew 27:27-36, "Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. 28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. 29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! 30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. 31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him. 32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross. 33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull, 34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink. 35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. 36 And sitting down they watched him there;"

B. It means that you can have Redemption Through His Blood.

Ephesians 1:7, "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;"

C. It means that you can have Eternal Life.

John 3:14-15, "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life."

D. It means that Jesus Died For All.

1 John 2:2, "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."

2 Peter 3:9, "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
