Psalm 46:1-11
I. Jesus Is Our Assurance In Prayer.
A. He has given us the Pattern For Prayer.
Luke 11:1, "And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples."
B. He wants us to Pray In His Name.
John 14:14, "If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it."
C. He is able to Answer Our Prayer.
Ephesians 3:20, "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,"
II. Jesus Is Our Assurance In Temptation.
A. He is able to Keep Us From Falling.
Jude 24, "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,"
B. He will give us Victory Over Temptation.
1 Corinthians 10:13, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
C. He will Reward us for Resisting Temptation.
James 1:12, "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him."
III. Jesus Is Our Assurance of Guidance
A. He is our Present Guide.
Hebrews 13:5, "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
B. He guide us by The Bible.
Psalm 119:105, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
C. He guides us by His Spirit.
Romans 8:14, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."
IV. Jesus Is Our Assurance of Eternal Life.
A. He is the Author and Finisher of Our Faith.
Hebrews 12:2, "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
B. He is the Shepherd and Bishop of our Souls.
1 Peter 2:25, "For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls."
C. He gives us Eternal Life.
John 10:28-29, "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand."
V. Jesus Is Our Assurance In Death.
A. He has the Keys of Death.
Revelation 1:18, "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."
B. He gives Comfort In Death.
Psalm 23:4, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
C. He takes the Sting Out of Death.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57, "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
VI. Jesus Is Our Assurance In The Resurrection
A. We shall be resurrected Because of Him.
2 Corinthians 4:14, "Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you."
B. We shall have a New Body.
Philippians 3:20-21, "For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself."
C. We shall be Like Him.
1 John 3:2, "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is."
VII. Jesus Is Our Assurance of Heaven
A. We have Desired Heaven.
Hebrews 11:16, "But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city."
B. We have an Inheritance In Heaven.
1 Peter 1:4, "To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,"
C. We will be Taken To Heaven By Him.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
