"He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love." --- (SofS 2:4) Travis Case, Pastor/Teacher Northgate Baptist Church F.E.A.S.T Ministries
Introduction: A. Tell of the Life and Conversion of Paul. B. Paul tells that Christ had done some Wonderful Things and that they were Not Done In Secret. C. Let us look at some of the things that were not secrets in the Word of God. I. The Virgin Birth Was No Secret. A. It was Foretold or Prophesied of in the Old Testament. Isaiah 7:14, "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." Micah 5:2, "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting." B. God created Man in His Own Image but man Sinned. Genesis 1:27, "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." Genesis 3:6, "And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat." C. God wanted to Save Us from having to pay the Penalty for this Sin. Romans 5:19, "For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous." D. How was Jesus to come into this world --- As a Full Grown Man? --- No, but as a Babe. 1. The Lord picked Mary to bring His Son into this world. 2. She is Not To Be Worshipped or used as a Mediator. 1 Timothy 2:5, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;" 3. Mary was on the Human Instrument to bring Christ into the world. Luke 1:26-38, "And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. 36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing shall be impossible. 38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her." II. His Wonder Life Was No Secret! A. Every Man Since Adam Has Sinned Except For Jesus Christ. Rom. 5:12, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" Rom. 3:10, "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" --- V. 23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Eph. 2:3, "Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others." Jer. 17:9, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" Eccl. 7:20, "For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not." Psa. 51:5, "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me." Gal. 3:22, "But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe." 1 Kings 8:46, "... there is no man that sinneth not, ..." B. This marks the Difference between Christianity and All Other Religions --- the Founders of all other religions were Human Beings Guilty of Sin. C. Christ Was Sinless. 2 Cor. 5:21, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." Even His enemies could find no fault in Him. III. His Vicarious Death Was No Secret. A. He Foretold His Death. Luke 9:22, "Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day." B. His ministry and services upon earth put men to shame so they plotted His death. C. His death was no secret --- it was on a high hill --- Calvary. D. He took Our Sins upon Himself. Isaiah 53:5-6, "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all." Lets go back to 2 Cor. 5:21, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." E. Without Christ There Is No Hope! Eph. 2:12, "That at that time ye were without Christ, ....., having no hope, and without God in the world:" IV. His Victorious Resurrection Was No Secret. A. He Foretold His Resurrection. Luke 9:22, "Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day." B. His services to mankind were great but yet they plotted His death. C. However, the Grave Couldn’t Hold Him! Matt. 28:5-6, "And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." `D. The Hope of Our Resurrection is in His Resurrection. 1 Cor. 15:13-20, "But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: 14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. 15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. 16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: 17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. 18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept." V. His Ascension Was No Secret. A. Jesus spent 40 Days upon the earth after His resurrection --- He was seen by many. B. Jesus Foretold His Ascension. John 14:1-4, "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." VI. His Glorious Return Is No Secret. After He had Ascended two men came and said unto them: Acts 1:9-11, "And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." 1 Thess. 4:16-17, "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." 1 Cor. 15:51-52, "Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."
